Welcome to Candles (Care and Learning at School)

Candles is the wraparound care facility at Heighington CE Primary School.

We provide before and after school care for children from 3-11 and are available every morning between 7:30am and 8:50am and every afternoon between 3:15pm and 5:50pm, Monday to Friday (for children in Reception to Year 6) and between 7:45am and 9:00am and 3:00pm and 5:30pm for children in Nursery.  

Candles is led by Ms Ida Austin (Manager).  There are three additional team members – Mrs Lauren French, Mrs Julie Jackson and Miss Helen Robson.  Mr Wilson also supports outdoor games each morning. 

Candles aims to provide:

• A safe and secure environment
• A pleasant and enjoyable experience that is as demanding upon the children as they wish
• Opportunities to experience a wide variety of creative and physical activities beyond the normal school day
• Time and space for children to relax and enjoy a quiet time if they so choose
• A healthy breakfast and afternoon snack
