Phonics Games/Useful Links
Welcome to the Phonics activities page.
Below you will find links to some of the phonics games we play in school.
We will also add documents/links here which will help your child prepare for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check
Phonics Play has a range of games that help children to learn their letter sounds. Our favourites are 'Buried Treasure' and 'Picnic on Pluto.'
Forest Phonics helps children to practise their spelling through the use of phonic patterns.
When playing this game children need to read the words floating across the page. If the word is real it needs to be caught by the dragon. If it is a nonsense word the children need to move the dragon under the arch on the screen.
This game is called Dinosaur Eggs. Children need to listen to a word with a particular phonic pattern in it. They then have to select the correct word from a choice of three on the screen.
At the end of Year 1 (usually during the third week in June), children in Year 1 are required to take part in the Phonics Screening Check.
Here are some resources to help your child prepare for this.
These flashcards are similar to the type used within the Phonics Screening Check.
